Tidewater Repertory Theater comes to Grafton Kiwanis -  8/12/2008
Steven Breese, artistic director, spoke to the Kiwanis Club of Grafton on August 12 about the success and growth of the Tidewater Regional Repertory Theater (TRR).  The mission of TRR, "founded and operating in partnership with Christopher Newport University and the Ferguson Center for the Arts, TRR is dedicated to producing plays and musicals that illuminate all that is passionate, profound, diverse and daring in the great American Spirit. Congressman Wittman speaks to Kiwanis of Grafton -  8/5/2008
U.S. Congressman Rob Wittman (R), representing Virginia's First Congressional District, joined the Kiwanians of Grafton for lunch on August 8, 2008. Congressman Wittman addressed the issues of Energy, Chesapeake Bay Cleanup and the Economy, and answered questions from the members. He congratulated club members on their service to the community and encouraged them to continue their service and to stay in communication with his office about community needs.  Photo by John King.


$3000 presented to Appalachia Service Project at St. Luke's Methodist Church -  6/11/2008

YORKTOWN, VIRGINIA -- The Kiwanis Club of Grafton has presented $3,000.00 to the youth of St. Luke’s Methodist Church, in Grafton, for their Appalachia Service Project (ASP.)  For a dozen years Grafton’s Youth Services Committee has earmarked the Spring BBQ earnings to support the ASP.  The Grafton Club’s highly successful Spring 2008 BBQ event was held on May 10.  In June, 58 youth and adults will travel with tools, supplies -- and enthusiasm -- to help 8 families improve their homes.  In

2008 - 2009 Officers Elected -  6/3/2008
The Kiwanis Club of Grafton elected officers for the upcoming 2008-2009 year on May 27th.  The new leaders will take office in October 2008.

Carl Horne receives 2008 Good Scout Award -  4/19/2008

Grafton Kiwanian Carl Horne is one of four Peninsula citizens who received a 2008 Good Scout Award from the Colonial Virginia Council Boy Scouts of America.   The awards, presented annually, are based on an individual's service to their community and commitment to the ideals of scouting.   "Anyone who provides service to the community, whether a Scout Leader or not, can be nominated to receive this award so long as they represent the ideals of the Scout Oath and Law," said Phillip Duggins,

Grafton Kiwanis named Distinguished Club for 2006-2007 -  4/8/2008
The Grafton Kiwanis Club has been named a Distinguished Club for 2006-2007 and Paul Garmen and John King were recognized for their leadership in earning this distinction.  District Lt. Gov. Brian Wilson presented the awards at the Club’s April 8 luncheon meeting. 


Linda Meadows is Kiwanian of the Year -  3/18/2008
Grafton Kiwanis has chosen Linda Meadows as the Kiwanian of the Year.  The annual award was presented by President Bill Monroe (left) and Secretary John King (right). 
Kathy Everhart, club treasurer, was honored with a Distinguished Service Award and Johnny Francum received a Kiwanis Appreciation Award.
