KidsPriorityOne! provides a wealth of resources -  4/27/2010
Grafton Kiwanians learned about KidsPriorityOne! as Brenda Garrett of the South Hampton Roads YMCA took members through a live demonstration of the website at the  April 27 meeting.  Just a few of the facts:
  • www.KidsPriorityOne.org is a "One Stop" Internet Resource Center where families, and those working with families, find local resources. In the past two years, more than 75,000 times, parents, teens, teachers and other human services professionals have visited our

York River Academy Key Club Receives Charter -  1/26/2010
The York River Academy Key Club received its official Charter, Key Club bell and Gavel, and the Club Banner at the January 26, 2010 meeting of the Grafton Kiwanis Club.  The new Key Club is sponsored by the Grafton Kiwanians to expand the service opportunities available to high school students in the York County area.  The Grafton Kiwanis Club also sponsors the Key Club at Grafton High School.

Grafton Kiwanis Presents $1,200 to Yorktown Football Club -  12/22/2009
The Grafton Kiwanis Club presented $1,200 to the Yorktown Football Club today (9/22/2009) to be used to support ongoing soccer programs.  YFC president Eric Kidwell received the donation on behalf of the club.  Kidwell said the funds will provide a major assist to YFC's ability to continue to provide soccer opportunities for York County children.  Members and players from the YFC assisted the Grafton Kiwanis with their Fall BBQ fundraiser in October.

Commonwealth's Attorney Explains Process -  12/15/2009
Eileen Addison, Commonwealth's Attorney at the York-Poquoson office, spoke to Grafton Kiwanis members today (December 15) about the legal process Virginia has for carrying out execution of those sentenced to death for capital murder. 


Grafton Kiwanians ensure bicycles ready for Christmas delivery -  12/12/2009
Eight volunteers from the Grafton Kiwanis Club and two volunteers from the Peninsula Bicycling Association spent most of their morning December 10 working on 130 bicycles to get them ready for Christmas delivery by the Salvation Army.  PBA volunteers were Ron Hafer and Lou DeGrace.  Kiwanis volunteers were Bill Monroe, Charlie Park, Gary and Mary Boxer, Jim Majka (pictured), Tom Tragle, Jim Barnett and Lee Roberts.  This is the fifth year the club has provided this(more)

Kiwanis Cyclists Completes Ride Across America -  8/18/2009

YORKTOWN, VA  August 18, 2009 --- Michael Henry, the Portland, Oregon, cyclist riding across America to raise awareness and funding for a Kiwanis Camp in Oregon, accomplished his objective at about 11 am this morning in Yorktown.  Traveling the Colonial National Parkway from Williamsburg on the last leg of his 4200+ mile trip, Henry stopped at the Yorktown Victory Monument and then proceeded to the river to “dip his wheel” in a symbolic end to his journey.   He was

Grafton Kiwanian Paul Garman Receives Recognition from the Virginia House of Delegates -  6/23/2009
Delegate Brenda Pogge, representing Virginia House of Delegates District 96, has presented Paul Garman with a copy of House Resolution #55 commending him for his 2009 Humanitariam Award from the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities and his extensive community service endeavors.   Delegate Pogge made the presentation at the Kiwanis Club of Grafton's July 23, 2009 meeting.  The text of the resoultion follows:

Grafton's Spring BBQ Sale a Sell-Out!! -  3/28/2009
The 2009 Spring BBQ Sale sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Grafton, Virginia, was a huge success.  All of the pork BBQ and Brunswick Stew products were sold out by early afternoon.  Proceeds from the sale, held on March 28, will be shared with the Appalachian Service Project at St. Luke's Methodist Church in Grafton.

Grafton Kiwanians Pump up Salvation Army Christmas -  12/15/2008

Volunteers and friends from the Kiwanis Club of Grafton devoted their December 15th morning to help the local Salvation Army get more than 350 bicycles ready to be delivered to young boys and girls on the Peninsula. So, that would be about 700 tires to pump up and 500 to 600 brakes to check, (some bikes had front and rear caliper brakes, some had front only caliper brakes and some had rear coaster brakes.)  Many brakes had to be adjusted.  There were lots of handle bar and

Congressman Wittman speaks to Kiwanis of Grafton -  8/5/2008
U.S. Congressman Rob Wittman (R), representing Virginia's First Congressional District, joined the Kiwanians of Grafton for lunch on August 8, 2008. Congressman Wittman addressed the issues of Energy, Chesapeake Bay Cleanup and the Economy, and answered questions from the members. $3000 presented to Appalachia Service Project at St. Luke's Methodist Church -  6/11/2008

YORKTOWN, VIRGINIA -- The Kiwanis Club of Grafton has presented $3,000.00 to the youth of St. Luke’s Methodist Church, in Grafton, for their Appalachia Service Project (ASP.)  For a dozen years Grafton’s Youth Services Committee has earmarked the Spring BBQ earnings to support the ASP.  The Grafton Club’s highly successful Spring 2008 BBQ event was held on May 10.  In June, 58 youth and adults will travel with tools, supplies -- and enthusiasm -- to help 8 families improve their homes.  In

The Kiwanis Club of Grafton elected officers for the upcoming 2008-2009 year on May 27th.  The new leaders will take office in October 2008.
